A: Just like the postman, we run rain or shine. So cross your fingers for sun and we'll see you out there!

Q: can i bring my dog to the race?

A: Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the race course per the City of Charleston. They are welcome on the square before and after the race.

A: Due to insurance requirements, strollers will not be allowed in this years race.  No strollers will be allowed to enter any corals this year, and this will be enforced by race personnel with assistance from the Charleston Police Department.

Q: WHat activities are available for kids?

A: The Turkey Day Run is a family affair and we've got plenty of activities for the little ones. At 10:30 am, we have the annual Children's Fun Run. The Fun Run is broken into four age categories:

  • Age 3 and Under: 25-meter run beginning at 10:30 am
  • Ages 4-5: 50-meter run beginning at 10:35 am
  • Ages 6-7: 100-meter run beginning at 10:40 am
  • Ages 8-10: 200-meter run beginning at 10:45 am

Each child participating receives a t-shirt (while supplies last) and medal after completing the race.

Additionally, we schedule other activities for children that vary by year. Past years have included bouncy castles, face painting and a Krispy Kreme dunking station.

Q: how can i register my child for the fun run?

A: You can register your child online or in person at the same time you register for the 5K. Entry fee is $10 per child and includes a running bib, free t-shirt and prize for participation. Space is limited to 500 runners so register early!

Participation in the Children's Fun Run does prevent your child from participating in the 5K and some families opt to have the entire family walk the race together. Strollers are NOT permitted on the race course this year!  However we do have a Pull Behind Wagon option for our smallest tots, please note that all Pull Behind Wagons must start in the last corral and this will be strictly enforced!

Q: what are the course records?

Competitive runners travel from all over to participate in the annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble and we track race records.

A: Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the amount of $500, $250, and $100, respectively. The winners of the Master and Grand Master age groups will each receive $100.

The top 10 male and female overall finishers as well as the Master and Grand Master will each receive framed artwork by a local artist.  The top five finishers in each age group will win a small trophy.
